gaining velocity

Pat,

To try and tell you how to increase your fastball on a message board is darn near impossible.
Trying to teach mechanics on a message board is nearly impossible.but here is a few other suggestions you should consider.
1. Have your mechanics reviewed by someone in your home town who is truely knowledgeable adout proper mechanics.
2.Work on your control.Jamie Moyer of the Seattle Mariners does not have great velocity 82-84mph on his good days, but he has pinpoint control and has a great change-up.Learn to throw your fastball with great control. and you can be very successful.Develop a great change up that you can also control and your fastball will be twicw as effective regardless of speed.
3.Pointing your toe at balance will not lengthen your stride, it will help you keep your hips closed until your landing. Legthening your stride will not increase your velocity in fact it will kill your control and decrease your velocity if you extend to far

Hope this helps.
